December 1st , 2007
The Fund for International Service Learning (FISL) announced the recipient of its Fall 2007 scholarship: Cornell University undergraduate Alexandra Silva. In the Spring of 2008, Alexandra will attend a service learning program at the Galapagos Academic Institute for the Arts and Sciences through the International Partnership for Service Learning .
In Alexandra's own words: "It is a privilege to be studying, learning, and volunteering in a foreign country. Talking about the goals and positive aspects of conservation and protection of endangered animals and their habitats can only give one so much satisfaction. Physically working towards these goals and making the positive aspects a reality is where the true reward lies. The opportunity to do service in conservation and introduced species control will help me practice what I am being taught: Environmental sustainability and repair of our natural environments."
FISL is honored to support Alexandra and others like her who participate in service learning programs across the world.
